Chippa United head coach Brandon Truter has acknowledged the challenges of playing home games in foreign territories this season, citing travel fatigue and disrupted preparation as major factors. The team has been forced to host matches in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng due to ongoing renovations at their Eastern Cape stadiums, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and Buffalo City Stadium. Last week, they faced Orlando Pirates at King's Park Stadium in Durban, while Dobsonville Stadium in Gauteng hosted other fixtures. Truter admitted the constant travel between coastal and inland locations has hindered team readiness, stating, 'We don't have the luxury of training at our stadium or extra preparation time because of the traveling.' The coach highlighted that their turbulent start to the season has seen them draw two of three matches, with the only loss coming against league champions Orlando Pirates. Reflecting on the Pirates clash, Truter noted his team was competitive for the first hour but failed to capitalize on chances, conceding, 'They took their half chances better than us.' Despite the setbacks, Truter remains optimistic, emphasizing that the current challenges are temporary. He pointed to a missed opportunity against Richards Bay FC, where a long-range goal from 40 meters failed to trouble Stanley Nwabali, as evidence of their potential. The coach also mentioned upcoming fixtures, including an away game against Siwelele FC on Tuesday, and expressed confidence in improving results as the season progresses.
