Richards Bay FC have confirmed the departure of head coach Ronnie Gabriel, who resigned with immediate effect after a winless start to the season. The club are now expected to turn to former TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic as his replacement.
"Richards Bay Football Club is sad to announce that head coach Ronnie Gabriel has resigned from the club with immediate effect," the club said in a statement. They added their appreciation for his "dedication, professionalism and contribution during his tenure."
Gabriel's exit follows a heavy 5-1 defeat to league rookies Milford FC last weekend, a result that leaves Richards Bay 14th in the Premier Soccer League with just three points from six games. Their recent form shows no wins in five matches, with three draws and two losses.
The search for a successor is underway, with Beganovic emerging as the leading candidate. Gabriel had been appointed following the departure of co-coach Papi Zothwane, who has since taken charge at Sekhukhune United. The club stated that further updates on the new coaching appointment will be provided in due course.
