Richards Bay FC have turned to an interim coaching duo to steady the ship after the departure of head coach Ronnie Gabriel. The club confirmed on Friday that former assistant Vusi Gumede and reserve-team coach Siyabonga Msomi will lead the first team as co-head coaches on a temporary basis.
The Natal Rich Boys are in urgent need of a turnaround, having failed to win any of their opening six league matches. They sit 14th in the Premier Soccer League with just three points from three draws, a position just above the relegation zone. Their recent form shows two consecutive defeats, including a heavy 5-1 loss to Milford FC last weekend.
Gabriel’s exit leaves the club hierarchy working to identify a permanent successor, with the upcoming FIFA international break seen as a window to make an appointment. For now, the immediate task falls to Gumede and Msomi. Their first assignment is a home fixture against Sekhukhune United this Saturday. Sekhukhune, who sit sixth, have also undergone a recent coaching change, installing Papi Zothwane as their interim boss.
